Artistic Statement
As an Artist I Believe that some of the most powerful music and art is created from spontaneous instincts and feelings, then manifested through cultivated collaboration. I find a deep appreciation and love for jazz, soul, and black music, theater, and dance. The representation of black artists/ art is so important, and the art they have created has laid the foundation for so much of today's music/art. The Genuineness and deep connection to the soul that comes from these styles is something I aspire to bring to all of my work. Truly feeling a piece of music and letting that manifest and flow out of you in whatever way your heart decides is such a beautiful thing. From this comes a liberating feeling and sense of euphoria that I aspire for all my audiences to experience from my work.
Any piece of authentic Art or Theater is born from a deep and truthful feeling. It should derive from a piece of your soul. I, as an artist/ creator, strongly value authenticity, artistic exploration, and spontaneity. This is constantly reflected in my creative works and interests. Limiting oneself artistically or staying within the confines of a stylistic box is the saddest thing an artist can do. Although musical theatre is my educational focus, I also find many of my passions and aspirations outside of it.
